| The International Poster Competition has contributed to the tremendous success of the Chaumont Poster Festival. Thanks to the entries of graphic designers from all over the world, the collection of contemporary posters, with its 20 000 entries, now represents one of the leading French collections, forming a unique panorama of graphic creation over the past 20 years in over 60 countries. It has therefore become - together with the Dutailly collection of vintage poster from the end of the 19th century - the second bedrock of the project of a permanent center for graphic design, which we are developing with the support of the town of Chaumont and other public partners. Thanks to your entries, Chaumont has been able to become an ¡°associated pole¡± of the Biblioth¨¨que nationale de France, an institution that participated in 2005 in the production of the exhibition of Casssandre¡¯s work, an exhibition, which at last paid a tribute to this great artist and that in Chaumont and in Paris.
Our XVIIth edition, from 13 May to 25 June 2006, will once again be the opportunity of granting poster-making and graphic creation the exposure they deserve, whilst pursuing our endeavour to open the Festival to all contemporary forms and inviting, like each year since 2003, foreign studios to show their productions to professionals and a French and international audience.
We thus invite you to take part in the International Competition by sending us your recent production on whatever theme it may be and we look forward to seeing you for the opening weekend of the International Poster and Graphic Arts Festival of Chaumont on the 12, 13, and 14 May 2006, during which the awards of the International Competition will be decided upon and presented.
