| ¡°Lampada da scrivania in vetro soffiato¡± (blown glass desk lamp): notice of competition promoted by Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. This notice was developed according to the international laws agreed with ICOGRADA, ICSID, IFI; with the patronage of ADI, the Italian Design Association
Article 1. Aim of the competition Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. calls for a tender for the design of an office desk lamp. The best project will be produced and/or marketed with the brand Vistosi.
1.1 Specifics of the product: it must consist mainly of blown and/or off-hand glass, whatever its colour or decoration. Any other material is allowed, from metal to plastic, from wood to ceramics, as long as it does not prevali over glass. Competitors can choose all kinds of light sources as long as the lamp can be swivelled according to the traditional canons of desk lamps.

Article 2. Members of the Jury
The Jury is composed of five members with the right to vote: Doctor Maurizio Galimberti Architect Nicoletta Canesi ¨C Lissoni Associati firm Architect Manuel Babled Architect Massimo Mussapi Architect Manuela Garbin ¨C Work in Progress firm Each member will give the object from 1.0 (one) to 10.0 (ten) points, according to the specifics reported in chart 2.1
The arithmetic mean of each member¡¯s mark will be multiplied by the coefficient of importance reported in chart 2.1, whose sum will eventually give the final result.
As a consequence, participants will receive a minimum of 14.5 points out of a total of 145 points available.

All votes will have the same importance. The Jury will meet for their response within a month since the end of the registration period. Members may vote separately and in different moments.
The results extracted from the Jury¡¯s record will be published on the web page www.vistosi.it and communicated to any media Vistosi will consider appropriate.
Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. has the right to modify any member of the Jury in any moment. Changes will be communicated through its web page without prior notice.
Article 3. Trustee of the Competition

Article 4. Awards A total of 9.000,00 (nine thousand) euros will be divided in: 1¡ã prize €4.000,00 (four thousand) 2¡ã prize €3.000,00 (three thousand) 3¡ã prize €2.000,00 (two thousand)
The winners of the competition will be awarded during a ceremony organized for the occasion by Vistosi S.r.L., who will also provide an accommodation in Venice for that night for them and the accompanying people (one person each). The awarding ceremony will be held in Venice by July 2006.
In case no adequate products are presented and the competition ends without a winner, the Jury may split the prize and distribute it among projects deserving particular attention or declare the competition null and void.
The promoter specifies that the entire sum will be distributed in any case and that no compensation ¡Winners will receive a cheque and must acknowledge receipt of the payment as prescribed by law.
Article 4.1. The technical committee

The technical committee will meet at the end of the registration period, before the meeting of the Jury, and will examine and eventually refuse any inadequate project. Refused projects will not be examined by the Jury.
All adequate projects will be evaluated by the Committee in terms of value, prototype, moulds, technical material needed for its realization and estimated commercial value.
Such information will be attached to every project in order for them to be marked by the Jury according to chart 2.1
Excluded projects will not be mentioned in the final rankings and no communication will be given to candidates, who, in any case, have the right to receive back the documents sent to ADI according to the procedure described in this notice.
Article 5. Terms of participation
Participation is open to Italian and foreign professionals such as designers belonging to designers associations, architects or engineers registered in the respective rolls, both free lance and employees of private firms, if authorized by the latter.
Groups of designers are allowed to take part in the competition as long as they appoint a representative who will be in charge of the project and of the relation with Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l.. Members of the jury or relatives of theirs and employees of Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. are not allowed to participate in the competition.
The same designer can participate in both sections of the competition, providing two separate registrations.
Article 6. Unpublished projects
Projects must not have been published before and must have been developed specifically for the competition.
The ¡°Giur¨¬ del Design¡± (trustee created by ADI) will solve cases of disputes regarding projects¡¯ originality.
Article 7. Projects¡¯ presentation
For each project candidates must hand in 2 charts (cardboard or rigid panels), 50x70 cm, which must include at least a technical drawing that, in an adequate scale, can give an idea of the whole project and show its details. Colour is allowed.
Candidates must also attach a file with a short text (A4 format, not longer than three pages) describing their motives in participating, the characteristics of the project, including the materials used, and any other information they wish to enclose.
Participants are free to enclose any other drawing and/or image (including digital ones) in order to further illustrate their project.
All the files must be anonymous and have to indicate the motto of the candidate (see art.8).
Article 8. Identification and anonymity Projects must not be signed but identified with a motto (or a number of six different digits). Article 9. Utilisation rights
The awarded projects will be at Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. disposal during one year (starting from the date of the Jury¡¯s record). Within such period Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. will decide whether to produce the objects or not. If yes, designers will sign a contract which will regulate the economical terms of the agreement, as prescribed by ADI.
Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. may contact other designers in order ask for an option on projects which have not been awarded.
Competitors have the right to protect their works by precautionary deposits or patents. In that case ADI allows them to register their projects at their ¡°Registro Progetti¡± with particularly favourable conditions.
Article 10. Deadlines
Candidates can register for the competition only filling in the on line application form available on the web page www.vistosi.it. Registrations will begin on the 04/16/2005 and end on the 06/30/2005 at 5 pm (as will be attested by the hour automatically reported by the software in charge of the registrations).
Works must be sent anonymously by 5 pm of December 8th, 2005 to the trustee¡¯s office: ADI, Associazione per il Disegno Industriale Via Bramante, 29 I-20154 Milano, Italia tel. 02 33100164 fax 02 33100878 In case projects are sent via mail or courier, they must be sent within the previous mentioned date (as will be attested by the stamp or the delivery receipt). Projects received (for delivery problems) later than 10 days from the deadline will not be accepted anyway.
This competition ends on the 01/31/2006.
Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. has the right to modify the deadline for the registration (informing candidates at least 10 days before through the web page www.vistosi.it, but commits itself not to change the closing date of the competition.
Article 11. Information and communication of the results
Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. commits itself to present the initiative in the national press and to emphasize the results in the best possible way.
With their registration all participants authorise Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. to display their work in an exhibition to be held (possibly) by December 31st, 2006.
Competitors also authorise Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. to publish their projects on a catalogue, a volume and/or in the specialised press; they will not receive any payment but they will figure as authors of the work. Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. will inform all participants about the results of the competition within 30 days from the verdict of the jury through the web page www.vistosi.it.
Article 12. Projects¡¯ return All not awarded projects will be at the candidates¡¯ disposal in the trustee¡¯s office from September 1st 2006 to November 30th 2006: ADI, Associazione per il Disegno Industriale Via Bramante, 29 I-20154 Milano, Italia tel. 02 33100164 fax 02 33100878
After such date the trustee does not guarantee the return of the projects. Vetreria Vistosi S.r.l. will keep the awarded projects during the period of the above mentioned option, as long as different terms are agreed between the parts.
