Those of us who live in so-called developed nations live lives of luxury, lifestyles that consume energy and other natural resources. At the same time, there are many people whose very lives are at risk, because of war, starvation, and global changes in the environment. The purpose of this competition is to solicit designs for lighting systems whose guiding principle is that of sustainability; designs that will make it possible for all people to live better lives on this planet that we all share.

Eligibility Number of Entries There is no limit to the number of entries. Each person may enter as many times as they wish

How to Apply Please submit the application form and your work along the following criteria.
please mount your workˇ®s photographs, drawings, sketches and other materials on construction paper. Maximum size should be 364mm x 515mm. There are no restrictions on the number of submitted pleces.
please send an entry slip along with your work. But do not glue the entry slip directly to your work.
please make copies of the application form or entry siips in case you need extra.
Judging Conditions 1. The entry must be in harmony with the competition theme. 2. The design should be polished,refined and interesting. 3. It should have a new unique idea and inspiration. 4. The design should be based on a well conceived plan and follow it. 5. The entry should clearly show the purpose and aim of the object.

Preliminary Competition The preliminary competition will be made on the basis of the photographs, drawings or sketches that have been submitted.
Final Competition The final competition will be judged after evaluation of the actual entry. (Only those who qualify for the final competition will be notified.)
In regards to the creation of your work, after your work arrives we plan to supply each entrant with financial aid. (30,000en)
lf you desire, our company can provide advice about the construction of the entry. (Details will be provided directly to those who pass the preliminary competition.)
Design Competition on the Web Designs that have passed the second-round of jury will be put up on our web page, where we will have the Design Competition on the Web with the votes from students, teachers, and all others from around the world. Announcement of results The winners wiil be announced in industry related magazines. Only those who have passed the preliminary competition will be notified.
Exhibition An exhibition of the final competition entries will be held in the Tokyo area.
Property Rights The design will remain the property of the designer but the manufacturing and sales rights will be the exclusive property of Koizumi Sangyo Corporation.
-All entries must be original and have never been submitted to any other competition. -lnformation about lamps or wiring required for the entry will be provided upon request. -All expenses related to the entry will be born by the designer. -lf it is determined that the entry is not original or is a copy in any way, the prize will be forfeited. -Any or all entries may be used for advertising purposes, exhibitions, catalogs, product design or other promotional purposes. -We reserved the right to make changes without prior notice to the rules or regulations of this competition. -Entries will not be returned. -Schedule(Proposed) -Application Period September 1,2003 to January 31, 2004
