Curt Cloninger Curt Cloninger is a writer, teacher, Internet artist, and Web designer. He is the author of ¡°Fresh Styles for Web Designers¡±(New Riders). Curt¡®s work has been featured in digital arts festivals from Korea to Brazil. He broadcasts his pirate signal (lab404.com) from a hidden rebel base deep in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina.
Molly E. Holzschlag Coined ¡°one of the greatest digerati¡± and deemed one of the Top 25 Most Influential women on the Web, there is little doubt that in the world of Web design and development,Molly E. Holzschlag is one of the most vibrant and influential people around.With over 25 Web development book titles to her credit,Molly currently serves as Communications Director for the World Organization of Webmasters.As a steering committee member for the Web Standards Project (WaSP),Molly works along with a group of other dedicated Web developers and designers to promote W3C recommendations. She also teaches Webmaster courses for the University of Arizona, University of Phoenix, and Pima Community College. She wrote the very popular column, Integrated Design, for Web Techniques Magazine for the last three years of its life, and spent a year as Executive Editor of WebReview.com.
Patricia McShane Patricia McShane studied fine art and photography at San Francisco State University. In 1987 she received a B.F.A. in Graphic Design with distinction from the California College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC). From 1997-2000 Patricia was on the design faculty of CCAC. Along with Erik Adigard, she founded M.A.D., a graphic design, illustration and new media studio in 1989. Sausalito,California-based,M.A.D. is internationally recognized for bringing high-impact conceptual graphic design and illustration to a variety of projects,most notably editorial design and imagery for Wired Magazine.Other projects include commissions for ABC/Disney, Apple, IBM, Lotus,Microsoft and Sony.M.A.D. has exhibited print graphics and interactive multimedia at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Limn Gallery in San Francisco,Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum and Postmasters Gallery in New York.M.A.D.won the prestigious 1998 Chrysler Award for Innovation in Design, and is frequently featured in publications worldwide.
JUDGING CRITERIA Your entry will be judged using the following criteria: • How well does the entry achieve its client¡¯s mission? • How well does the entry communicate? • How easy is it to navigate the entry? • How strong is the entry aesthetically? • How strong is the entry technically? Please include a description of the objectives of your entry with your entry form to help the judges fully evaluate your project.

WHAT¡®S ELIGIBLE Any interactive, interface and motion designs (including advertising videos) for the Web, for kiosks, for broadcasts or for use on Windows or Macintosh platforms, including CD-ROMs and DVDs. Entries must have been created between January 1, 2002 and November 1, 2003.
FEES, DEADLINE AND PAYMENT The entry fee is $75 per entry.Deadline is November 10, 2003. For entries postmarked after the November 10 deadline date, please add $25 per entry. Entries postmarked after November 24, 2003 will not be accepted. Make checks payable (in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank) to HOW Interactive Design Competition. Payment must accompany entries. Entries received without payment will be disqualified. Entry fees are nonrefundable.
HOW TO ENTER 1. Send two well-protected disks or CD-ROMs for each entry. Submit your entry on 3.5-inch floppy disks, Zip disks (Mac-format preferred),DVD,VHS, or CD-ROMs (Mac or Win). Include instructions for loading and running the entry.Web sites may be entered on one of these formats or by providing the URL for the site. Include password if entry is protected. 2.Complete an entry form and make three clear photocopies of it. Firmly attach one form to each copy of your entry, and include the other two forms with your payment. 3.Type or print your entry form.
