联合国教科文组织第五届21世纪国际设计比赛---"LOVE / Why?"
Within the framework of the "Design 21" programme, launched since 1995 jointly by UNESCO and Felissimo Corporation (Japan), a new international contest entitled "LOVE / Why?" is organized for concepts and items that are part of today and tomorrow's lifestyle. Entries are invited for everyday items for home, fashion, new high tech and low tech essentials of today's lifestyle, such as tools and gadgets including communications device, items for home office, travel goods, food, etc…
比赛规则:
1.比赛目标 This is the fifth Design 21 International Design Award. Co-organized by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and Felissimo Group (Japan), the award was launched in 1995 in the spirit of transcending national borders to promote creative force among the generations that would shape our future. It also encourages young designers to use design as part of a process of creating a new lifestyle and as a tool to improve the quality of self-expression and communication. This award is preceded by an invitational exhibition by renowned professionals (referred to as "Part 1 Exhibition") opening in Barcelona, Spain, as part of the Universal Forum of Cultures 2004. Hereafter, this competition is referred to as "Part 2 Exhibition".
2.主题 The theme "LOVE / Why?" is chosen to stimulate reflection on the need in the present world for design/concepts that provide a sense of connection, understanding and harmony - between persons, between people and everyday environment. It reflects an underlying objective of "Design 21" to create and maintain human connections through design.
3.范围 Entries are invited for everyday items for home, fashion, new high tech and low tech essentials of today’s lifestyle, such as tools and gadgets including communications device, items for home office, travel goods, food, etc…
4.选择评判 It is used in everyday life. It promotes a sense of connection and happiness. It shows awareness and respect for the environment, including choice of materials and production techniques. It reflects a creative and responsible vision of lifestyles appropriate in the 21st century and beyond. It has a potential for the international market.
5.组织 Administrative offices are located in Paris, at the UNESCO Headquarters, and at Felissimo offices in New York and Kobe. Screening and Pre-selection Committees, and International Jury will be composed of design specialists, cultural and opinion leaders. The pre-selection will be carried out by the Pre-selection Committee meeting which will be held in Paris. Selected designers will receive a financial assistance towards the production/shipment of the models for the exhibitions starting in Japan. The final selection will be made by the International Jury designated by the Director-General of UNESCO, during the exhibition in Kobe (Japan). The Award Ceremony will take place in UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The decision made by the Jury shall be final and without appeal.
6.奖项与资助 (a) Financial assistance: Selected designers will receive a financial assistance towards production/shipment of the models. The range of this assistance is US$ 200, 350 or 500 depending on the nature of the item and the recommendation of the Pre-Selection Committee.
(b) Awards: 1 Grand Prix : US$ 10,000 3 First Prizes : US$ 3,000 each The Prize-winners will also be invited to the Award Ceremony in Paris (round trip airfare and accommodation will be provided by the organizers). (c) Corporate Awards: Felissimo Corporate Award for gentle everyday products based on colour white (different whites from the natural world): US$ 1,000 and an opportunity to commercialize the item (at the discretion of Felissimo Group). Takara Corporate Award for products that add enjoyment to everyday life: US$ 1,000 cash and an opportunity to commercialize the item (at the discretion of Takara Corporate).
7. 参赛要求 (a) Qualifications The selection is open to young designers between 18 and 35 years old who have not yet attained international recognition. Laureates of the previous "Design 21" contests are not eligible. The works submitted must be original works of the applicants. (b) Application All candidates must fill in the Application Form, including a Curriculum Vitae and a brief project description (downloadable from our website www.unesco.org/culture/design21) and certify that the works submitted are original works of the applicants. Candidates may submit entries for two different items. Application is on an individual basis. In case the entries are organized by a school, an application must be filled in by each student. Application Form together with the design (see below) must be returned by 15 August 2004 to UNESCO (at the address indicated below). Any application received after the closing date and any incomplete file will be considered ineligible for the selection. Candidates are requested to abide by the rules and schedule of the competition. (c) Materials to be submitted for the pre-selection
The participants are requested to submit a maximum of 5 drawings or photographs in colour of the prototype per entry (mounted on a 30 X 40 cms size paper) with the author’s name, address and telephone number indicated on the back. (d) Materials to be submitted for the final selection Pre-selected designers will be contacted individually by the organizers and will be required to submit the works to the International Jury as follows: The finished model or a 3-D prototype will be accepted. It should not exceed 100 cms in size and 25 kgs in weight. Fragile objects that require special packaging/handling will not be accepted. Breakables should be sent at the applicant’s own risk in a reusable, sturdy container. The finished models must be received in Kobe by 5 April 2005 (the address and necessary instructions will be communicated in due course to the pre-selected designers).

9.权利与责任 The designs remain the artistic property of the designers. Felissimo and corporate sponsors have the rights to negotiate with the laureates in regard to the eventual commercialisation of their designs. Designers entering the contest agree to absolve the organizers from any liability relating to intellectual property issues, which may be raised by any other party. In view of the Exhibitions, the organizers will be in direct contact with the laureates for any eventual adaptation of his/her work necessary for technical reasons and for the production of the finished models. Candidates presenting pre-selected and prize-winners authorize the organizers to disseminate their works by all possible means of communication (press, television, video recording, exhibitions, etc.). Candidates presenting pre-selected and prize-winners authorize the organizers to keep the finished models and the original design. The non-selected designs will not be returned. Insurance: Designers should undertake to secure appropriate insurance coverage from their countries of origin up to Kobe for any component deemed valuable that is entered in the contest. The organizers agree to take due care of all entry components, but will not accept liability for loss or damage to property.
Transport: The costs of shipping models to Kobe are to be borne by the selected designers.
