1. 主题/Theme
主题A:适合中老年人的个性化汽车
Theme A: Personalized car for sophisticates

Vehicles for adults who have established their own sense of value: these vehicles should be both attractive and exciting to drive. Moreover, their unique qualities should help foster a personal bond with their owners; a bond which only grows stronger with time. The core target market is couples in their 50‘s. (Please note: designers should envision vehicles that can be developed five years from now.)

主题B:10年后的微型概念汽车
Theme B: New mini van concept 10 years later

Mini Vans that exhibit new and innovative concepts and that will be available 10 years in the future. These vehicles should have a 7 to 8- person capacity. The target market is families. 

In addition, entrants must reflect the following required elements in their designs:
Japanese Modern designs (designs should reflect your interpretation of the term “Japanese Modern“).
Environmentally conscious designs.
Universal designs (designs suitable for a wide range of individuals).

2. 参赛资格/Eligibility
任何业余或专业的个人和团体均可参加。
This competition is open to all individuals, amateur or professional, who are able to clearly show their designs through visual media (e.g. sketches, drawings, computer graphic designs, or photographs).
There are no restrictions as to age or nationality.
Groups as well as individuals may enter.

3. 详情/Details

There is no limit to the number of entries which may be submitted. In addition, designers may submit entries for both theme options.
Designers must provide visual materials (e.g. sketches, drawings, computer graphic designs or photographs) and concept descriptions using no more than 3 presentation boards.dolcn.com
The size of the presentation board(s) must be A2-size (420mm x 594mm). There are, however, no restrictions as to the material from which the presentation board(s) is constructed.
Entrants must affix the appropriate number sheet (found on the bottom of the entry form) to the back of each panel.
Only one entry may be included with each entry form.
Models, other 3-demensional objects, and digital data will not be accepted.
Complete the form in English or in Japanese only.
For groups, please choose a group name and select one representative, and then place the group and the representative names in the appropriate fields of the entry form.

4. 截止日期/Deadline

Thursday, March 20, 2003

When entries are sent by mail or courier, they must be postmarked by this date.
When entries are delivered in person to our office, they can be accepted between 10am and 6pm, Monday through Friday (except for national holidays).

8. 评审/Screening

< 预选/First screening >
Slated for April 2003.
Mitsubishi Motors‘ designers will select about 30 designs from among all entries.

< 决选/Second screening >
Designs which pass the initial screening will be posted on the competition‘s website for one month beginning on April 1, 2003, and a popularity vote will be conducted to determine the Internet Prize.

In May, 2003, Mitsubishi Motors‘ designers and a group of outside experts will select the winning designs.

9. 奖金/Prize
- 大奖/Grand Prize (1): 1,000,000 yen and trophy. (In the event that no designs are deemed worthy of the grand prize, the prize money may be distributed among the other winners.)
- 因特网奖/Internet Prize (1): 200,000 yen and trophy.
- 特别奖/Extra Prize (3 or 4): 600,000 to 800,000 yen (to be divided among the winners) and trophy.

10. Acknowledgement of received entries

After receiving an entry and entry form, Mitsubishi Motors International Design Competition Office will register it and acknowledge receipt of the entry to each participant by email or mail.

11. Notification of results

Results from the first screening will be posted on the competition‘s website.
Results from second selection will be sent to the winners only by mail.
Please note that any inquiries on the competition‘s results by phone cannot be accepted.

12. Terms and conditions

When mailing entries, insurance coverage is recommended in case of damage or loss during shipping.
The applicant shall bear all shipping costs. When shipping from overseas, packages must be clearly marked “no commercial value“ to avoid customs charges. Large and excessively wrapped articles run the risk of being considered valuable items and taxed.
Entries must be original, unpublished works, to which the applicant(s) owns all rights.
Works entered into this competition may not be submitted to other competitions or published without the express permission of Mitsubishi Motors.
Any applicant who wishes to protect his/her work by obtaining copyrights, design rights and/or any other intellectual property right must do so at his/her own expense. By entering the competition the applicant agrees that Mitsubishi Motors may use the submitted design for research purposes without restrictions.
For prize works or any other work selected by Mitsubishi Motors, the applicant agrees either to transfer to Mitsubishi Motors his/her intellectual property rights, or to grant Mitsubishi Motors the license to use such rights at their discretion.
Outstanding designs that failed to win prizes may still be adopted as candidates for new models.dolcn.com
Entries will not be returned. All applicants are personally responsible for making any copies of the designs before submitting them.

13. Announcement of Winners

Final results, along with the prize winning designs, will be provided on our website sometime around the end of June, 2003. (After the announcement of the results, entries may be posted elsewhere on the Internet, or exhibited in magazines for public-relations or/and promotional purposes.)
