主题/The Theme.
“印刷的力量/The Power of Print”.
“Print” is all around us…
…it is morning. You get up. You open a “tube of toothpaste” and brush your teeth. You put on your nicest“sunflower printed shirt”. You go downstairs. You open a “milk carton” and a box of “corn flakes”. You make yourself a lovely breakfast. You open a “pack of coffee”. You read the “morning paper”. You soak up the latest news. You look at your watch (with awesome “screen-printed design”). It’s time to go. You pick up your “bag” (fi lled with “books” and “manuals”) and rush out the door to catch the bus. On the way to the station you see a “poster” that announces a gig of your favourite band. You think: I might surprise my friend and buy some “tickets” for that concert. At the bus stop you’re looking at a “billboard” for exotic travels. You start day dreaming and you want to get to the travel agent and pick up a “travel brochure”. But then you wake up and realize…you have no “money”… You show the bus driver your “season pass” and you hop on the bus. School girls are discussing the latest “fashion magazines”. An older man is doing a “crossword puzzle” and a woman picks up her “shopping bags” to get off at the next stop. www.dolcn.com

This is just one hour in the life of an average college student. Wherever he or she turns, “Print” is there.

It is all around us. Print infl uences our lives more than any other medium—even without us consciously realizing it. This makes Print extremely important in everyone’s life. Wherever you go or wherever you live, anywhere around the world.

Agfa is strongly committed to the Power of Print. That’s why we are asking young creatives, like yourself, to graphically “explain” how Print is infl uencing your life. We would like to know what Print means to you.

You are free to interpret the “Power of Print” anyway you like, within the confi nes of an A2 poster. Use your imagination. But be aware that photos and illustrations that show form and concept intertwined in a creative way stand the best chance of convincing the jury that you understand and have captured the “Power of Print.” The rest is entirely up to you.

We want you to express yourself on an A2 size poster (420 x 594 mm – 16.5 x 23 inches), landscape or portrait.

What can you do on this A2 size poster? You can make a comic strip about a printing situation, you can do collages of screens and register marks, you can show a design of what you think is an important type of printed matter (shopping bag, a magazine, a powerful advertisement, etc.). Let your imagination be the determining factor. Visit this website on www.agfa.com/aycc/2003 .

You’ll find some more ideas of how to work with the subject “the Power of Print”.

The six best designs will be printed on large format printing presses at the Drupa tradeshow in Germany, in May 2004. They will also be displayed on the www.agfa.com/aycc/2004 website as of May 2004.
