JCD Design Award 2007 creates a new situation of communication design In the space design area.

JCD (Japanese Society of Commercial Space Designers) was established in 1961,and was set up as a corporation in 1963, composed of the various creators and organizations that are related to the area of the space design.

"JCD Design Award", one of our activities, started in 1974 for the purpose of the public recognition of the superior space designs (including the factors such as human beings, society and nature) in commercial environment. Thereafter, in accordance with the changes in times, the whole concept of the design award has also been consistently improved so that it might pick out the value and possibility of the space design of the age. Since 1999, the screening process has been made public in order to make the discovery and quality of the design more open. Since 2006, the entry can be done through the Internet and the framework or the names of the prize are modified, seeking a new set of values in order to draw more possibilities.

Moreover, as for screening, a lot of special judges have been so far invited and its own sense of value has been found in order to verify the present-day situation from various view points. (Ettorre Sottosass, Andrea Branzi, Gaetano Pesce, Simo Heikkila, Jean Nouvel, Ken Yeang, Yohji Yamamoto, Kazuko Fujie, Amon Miyamoto, Shigesato Itoi, Kenya Hara, Klein Dytham, Taku Sato, and Kundo Koyama)

JCD Design Award expects, under the concept of "Communication design" in the space design area, the works in which the space design in the future can be foreseen and the newcomers of exceptional talent.

●参赛类别
The communication design in the space design area among six categories below.

 1.Buying
 2.Eating
 3.Gathering
 4.Enjoying
 5.Comunicating
 6.Feeling

The space should be created between April 1st 2006 and March 30th 2007, in Japan and should be functioning actually.
Please note, however, the space created outside Japan should be included if the applicant has his/her base for activities in Japan.

Moreover, participation is open to overseas applicants and the special award for foreign works is newly set up.

Designers who had the responsible position in the work..
The judges' application is also possible.（In that case, the judge applicant can't vote for his/her own work..）

●评审过程
Initial screening/ Screening on the website.
JCD BEST 100, the most excellent space designs of the year, are to be selected among whole entries.（A quick report to be made on our website.）

Final judging/As for the works selected as JCD BEST 100, the presentation panels （pages of A2）should be submitted.The final judging round is open to the public, and selects the world's most cutting-edge designs among 100 works.

JCD BEST100 are to be announced late May 2007 on the website.
The final judging process is open to the public June 19, 2007 (Tokyo Design Center)

12,000 yen（100 U.S.dollars,but changeable according to the exchange rate at the time of remittance）
