All 30 finalists came together in the Dongguan International Conference & Exhibition Center Hotel on Sept.19 for their PowerPoint presentation with the help of design models. There were 8 judges witnessed the whole performance and they were:

Among 30 finalists selected out of more than 2000 participants, there were contestants mainly the home students and designers, and the rest participants came from HKSAR and consisted of many overseas Chinese students. Each entrant first gave an oral presentation on their design ideas with help of innovative PowerPoint, flash files, movies and the most exciting part was some contestant elaborated his/her idea in fluent English with wonderful background music. All contestants were divided into groups, and each group consisted of five contestants went for the Q&A session. Compared with last year's event, contestants were requested to submit their prototype which gave more credit to the presentations.
It was a tough final selection, started at 8.30am and ended up at 11.15pm. The results turned out that not all the judges on the panel were comfortable with the bronze prize, silver prize and golden winners in particular. The final result was decision was adopted upon with the approval of the majority by means of voting through constantly serious debate, friendly consultation and coordination. Prof. Ying Dingbang announced the final result, followed by the inspiring speeches delivered by Prof. John Heskett for the Toy Products Group, and Prof. Yanta Lam for machinery group and Prof. He Renke for electronic information group.





During Sept. 21 - 24, winning entries models with exhibition board in addition to entry works of the preliminary selection were on show in the Dongguan International Conference and Exhibition Center, and the Awarding Ceremony was held in the afternoon of Sept. 22.
